The proposition of the third open regional jazz festival-contest "The Bird"

1. This proposition specifies the procedure for open regional jazz festival-contest "The Bird"

(further – the festival-contest).

        

2. The main goals and tasks of the festival-contest:

         - to discover talented children and young people, good at jazz art;

         - to disclose creative potential of children and young people;

         - to popularize jazz art;

         - to preserve and develop performing traditions in a jazz direction;

         - to support teachers working in the genres of jazz art.

       

3. The festival is held by the main Department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the Grodno regional Executive Committee, by the Department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the Lida district Executive Committee and

the state educational institution «The Children's Music School in Lida».

         

4. The information about the festival-contest is posted on the website of the Lida district Executive Committee: www.lida.by

        

5. The festival is held in the following nominations:

         the soloist (instrumentalist, vocalist);

         «ensemble»  (instrumental, vocal) - a group of 2 -12 people, the participation of a concertmaster is allowed;

         «orchestra», «chorus» - a group of 12 people, including minimal number of teachers and accompanists (no more than 10% of the total number of the participants).

         

6. Participants of the festival-contest are students (soloists, ensembles, orchestras and choirs) of children's music schools, art schools, secondary schools (gymnasiums, lyceums), other institutions of additional children and youth education, students of schools and colleges aged 8 -19 on the day of the festival.

For all participants in all categories age groups are determined:

       Group A (students of schools)

       junior (8-11 years);

       intermediate (12-14 years inclusive);

       older (aged 15-17 inclusive);

       Group B (students of colleges).

For participants in the category of «ensemble», «orchestra», «chorus» age groups are determined by the age which most participants have.      

         

7. The festival is held in the state educational institution «The Children's Music School in Lida» May 13, 2017.

        

8. The organizing Committee staff and the jury of the festival-contest are approved by the order of the main
Department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the Grodno regional Executive Committee.

        

9. To participate in the festival-contest it is necessary to send to the organizing Committee (231300, Belarus, Grodno region, Lida, Sovetskaya street 8A, «The Children's Music School in Lida» or to the email address: lidadmshi@gmail.com) till May 1  

the following materials:

      - the application form of the established model for participation in the festival-contest;

      - the copy of birth certificate;

      - 1 photo of the soloist (team) size 10x15;

      - a copy of the payment receipt.

10. The organizing Committee of the final stage of the festival-competition will inform the participants about admission a week before the start of the final stage of the competition.

       

11. Competition performances are held publicly, the order of the performance is determined by the organizing Committee,

all the works are performed by heart, replacement of performance programmes is not allowed.

       

12. The jury of the final stage of festival-competition evaluates the performances of the participants and determines the winners.
The jury has the right not to award all winners and the diplomas can be shared among other participants (except degree I).

The jury in coordination with the organizing Committee can change the number of prizes depending on the number of winners within the prize Fund and can award teachers, accompanists and participants who do not become winners with certificates, too.

       

13. The jury's decisions are final and can’t be revised.

       

14. The winners of the festival competition are determined in each nomination and in each age group.
The winners are awarded with diplomas of the I, II, III degree.

       

15. Funding is made through contributions of the participants. The organizers of the festival-competition will provide the participants with sound and intensifying equipment, a concert grand piano, a drum set, consoles for music, chairs.
Each participant of the festival-competition must pay an entry fee (except for teachers and accompanists): 

     a soloist - 25 BYN; 

     a band - 18 BYN;

     a member of the orchestra or choir - 6 BYN.

 

The payment is made before April 10th to the special account of the Department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the Lida district Executive Committee with a note «The Children's Music School in Lida»:

The participants, acting in several categories, pay one entrance fee (25 BYN).
In the case of illness it is possible to replace the participant.

  * There is a possibility of accommodation and food payment at the expense of the participants.        

16. The cost of travel, accommodation, meals for participants of the competition are paid by the sending organization.

        

17. For the financing of the festival-contest in all stages other sources (which are not prohibited by the legislation of the Republic of Belarus) can be used.

 

The program for the performance:

       Two works in the style of traditional or modern jazz (one pop is allowed).

Improvisation (original) is welcome!

       One jazz piece for participants in the nomination «Soloist-vocalist».

As an accompaniment phonogram «minus», is allowed and the participation of a concertmaster, an instrumental ensemble of students or teachers.

Playing time of the entire program is no more than 8 minutes. Performing classical or only pop and folk works and using low-quality soundtracks isn’t allowed!

The last year winners (laureates) are allowed only with another program.

        The jury, highly qualified specialists in the field of jazz, vocal and instrumental art, is involved for listening and rewarding all participants of the festival-competition.

       They take into account:

  • performance skills;

  • scene image;

  • high level of the performance of jazz music;

  • artistry.
