Russian Folk Instrument Orchestra

The Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments of the teachers of the Children's Music School is one of the oldest collectives of

the school whose creative activities span over 30 years. The band was created on the basis of the orchestral group of the Ensemble of Folk Song and Dance of the Town House of Culture "Lidchanka" by the talented teacher and musician Viktor Alekseevich Yankov. Their performance at the 25 anniversary of the school in 1980 was their debut. Since that time they have been taking a part in different creative activities. In 1994 the orchestra under the leadership of a talented young conductor Galina Mechislavovna Ogarok defended the title «NATIONAL». A significant contribution to the work of the orchestra was made by creative and gifted musicians and conductors: Irina Yuryevna Laykovskaya, Petr Vladimirovich Stoka.

Since 2001, the band has been headed by Tatyana Shukh.

Genre specificity, performance practice and innovative search identify instrumental and quantitative composition of the orchestra which includes 20 professional musicians and the teachers of keyboard-folk and string-folk instrument departments.

They professionally play such instruments as the domra, balalaika, accordion, bass guitar, percussions. Along with the traditional style and standard music manners of instrumental performance the band combines creative traits based on identity and nationality.

Concerto, cultural and educational activities of the orchestra are varied. The orchestra's performances are perceived with great enthusiasm and interest by wide audience. The orchestra actively participates in various festivals and competitions.

So, in 2005, the Regional Folk Music Festival «Zaigrayte Musyki» the orchestra was awarded a diploma, and in 2011 at the Regional Competition of Instrumental Music it was awarded a Laureate of the contest.

The orchestra's repertoire consists of works of different styles and genres from folk classics to modern music.

Much attention is paid to the works of Belarusian authors. The orchestra works closely with other creative groups of the school, such as the exemplary choir "Kamerton", the vocal group "Inspiration", soloists-vocalists Angelica Biruk, Larissa Shabalina,

soloists-instrumentalists Lyudmila Kapkovich (guitar), Olga Sokolovskaya, Tatyana Kholod (dulcimer) and others.
